WHAT IS THE CHOIR OF THE YEAR?
For information only in 2021. More to follow for 2022
There are two Choir of the year classes:-
BOURNEMOUTH YOUTH CHOIR OF THE YEAR
Open to any choir with members under the age of 21 (as at 1st September 202)
BOURNEMOUTH CHOIR OF THE YEAR
Open to any Choir whilst primarily for adults (aged 18 and above as at 1st September 2022) does not, in some cases, preclude a choir of mixed ages.
These Choir of the Year classes are for those choirs who have qualified to take part by winning one of the qualifying classes for their respective age. A quick look at the syllabus will tell you which classes these are.
So, the Bournemouth Choir of the Year 'finals' will take place once all the qualifying classes are decided.
If you have won your qualifying class, you should then report back to our Competitors' Table and sign in for the final, along with the two pieces you will perform - one of which MUST be one of the pieces which you performed in the qualifying class, and the other piece MUST be a piece which you did not perform in the qualifying class, but may be a piece from any genre (including the class in which you qualified). If you like, you may sing a piece which you have already sung in any other class this year.
I hope it goes without saying that, in the final, you will be representing the class for which you qualified (i.e. if you win the "Part Singing" class, then you represent "Part Singing" in the final.
Should you win two (or more) qualifying classes, then you must choose which class to represent in the final, as no choir may represent more than one class. Once you have chosen, then the choir which came second in the class which you have 'rejected' will be promoted and invited to perform in the final.
